About The Project

The Project is a longform improvisational comedy show that takes place every Sunday evening at Magnet Theater in New York City. Longform Improv is "an improv performance structure that is play-like in that it attempts to use an overall theme, may have recurring characters, and attempts to build a story or narrative arc within itself." (definition from Chicago Improv Wiki.)

This style of improv comedy has its roots in Chicago. Each Project team will be focusing on practicing and performing one of the various longform structures that have developed over the years at venues like the Windy City's ImprovOlympic, amongst others.

New for 2006 is a sports-like Project Draft, where all the teams performing will be chosen by 11 designated team captains in a secret draft event. For an entire "season", lasting 6 months, these teams will peform in The Project on a regular basis. After the season is over, a new draft will occur, once again mixing players into new teams.

Terry Jinn, the creator, producer, and host of The Project, is an improviser, musician, filmmaker, and computer consultant in New York City. (Not necessarily in that order.)
